Rand Paul: Gun Control Bill Was Kept Secret. “I Was Given a Blank Piece of Paper and Told to Vote On This and Trust Us”
“There doesn’t appear to be a willingness or time provided to read, understand, debate or amend this bill.”
After the Senate passed a draconian gun control bill with 15 Republicans siding with Democrats, Senator Rand Paul said the bill was kept secret and no one had time to actually read the bill before it was passed.
This happens a lot in Congress where they pass bills with thousands of pages overnight, and secretly.
“Unfortunately, this legislation was assembled as many are - in secret, absent well placed leaks to journalists. There doesn’t appear to be a willingness or time provided to read, understand debate or amend this bill.” - Rand Paul
But Paul later vowed to try to introduce amendments to correct the “constitutional deficiencies” in the bill.

The Senate voted 64-34 Tuesday night to advance the bill.
How can any elected official sincerely decide on legislation without reading it or debating it? This is something that we as Americans allow and it blows my mind.
Rand Paul goes on to say: “They didn’t even give us the actual bill to vote on it. They gave us a blank piece of paper and said, ‘Vote on this and trust us as to what the legislation will be when it comes forward and trust that there’ll be an actual amendment process.”
